Hey there, time traveller!

If the parents of a young, growing family were asked to describe their vision of a perfect move-up home, several attributes would be front-and-centre.
First and foremost, it would be in move-in-ready condition. Second, it would feature a layout that provided exceptional livability on all levels.
Third, it would be situated in a safe, quiet location. Oh, and it would ideally be filled with upgrade finishes.
While few homes meet all those ambitious prerequisites, a solid bungalow in Grande Pointe does, says Tina Wiebe of Coldwell Banker Preferred Real Estate.
“I think the biggest thing about this home is that it’s a turnkey home. It’s also in like-new condition throughout even though it’s 10 years old.”
Essentially, the 1,878 square-foot, custom-built bungalow provides that like-new feel while doing away with all the after-the-fact work that comes both before and after purchasing a new home.
“The thing to remember about building new is that wait times are anywhere from a year to year-and-a-half right now,” she says. “With this home, you won’t have to wait, or deal with things like price increases, landscaping, buying appliances or developing the home to your needs and tastes.”
In fact, the well-designed bungalow features a wonderful blend of function and fashion from start to finish.
A generous, tiled foyer with mud/laundry room to its left opens nicely onto an open-concept main living area filled with rich finishes, starting with pristine, cappuccino-stained white oak hardwoods.
Natural light floods in from a rear (and south-facing) wall of windows, while the home’s generous square footage allows for a main living area that offers three accessible, yet well-defined spaces situated beneath a stylish tray ceiling.
Wiebe says the area’s high livability quotient is matched beautifully by a host of luxurious, well-placed finishes.
“Finishes in every area are upgrades, starting in the island kitchen with maple cabinets, granite countertops, a gorgeous tile backsplash and stainless-steel Frigidaire Professional appliances. The family room features a gas fireplace with a gorgeous stone façade, and the expandable dining area is next to a patio door that takes you out to a large composite backyard deck.”
The home’s bedroom wing was then tucked away between the family room and foyer to create a feeling of isolation and tranquility, she notes.
“It’s set well away from all the action and offers two large secondary bedrooms with big windows and double closets, a beautiful four-piece bath and a wonderful primary bedroom,” she says.
Featuring an alluring combination of warmth, natural brightness and understated style, it’s a private retreat that was designed to promote relaxation and rejuvenation.
“The cappuccino-stained oak hardwoods give it a nice warmth, while a large window and patio door let in lots of natural light,” Wiebe says. “A tray ceiling with an elegant chandelier gives it a nice little pop of style, there’s a patio door to your own private deck and the ensuite offers a tile floor, maple vanity with granite countertop and elegant walk-in shower.”
“It offers an extra-high ceiling as well as a spacious media area with 100-inch screen and projector, a second gas fireplace set in a dark cultured stone facade, eating area, wet bar and games area next to two large windows. There’s also two more bedrooms, a three-piece bath with walk-in shower and a huge mechanical/storage with water softener and iron filtration system.”
Other upgrades include a central vac system, outdoor sprinkler system, outdoor kitchen, fire pit and composite decks at the front and back of the spotless residence.
Add to that a location that’s profoundly peaceful yet close to the city, and a young, active family has plenty of room to spread out surrounded by style and countrified splendor.
“You’re just minutes from shopping, restaurants and services in Sage Creek, and the area also has excellent school bus service,” she says. “There’s no reason to buy a new home when you can find a turnkey home like this. The cost savings and convenience of having all these upgrades done is a huge asset in this world of limited supplies and staff.”
