Hey there, time traveller!

Everyone, it seems, has a different perception of what a family-oriented luxury home should look and feel like.
The most common vision people have is a home that’s dressed to the nines with wow factor present everywhere you look.
The design team at Artista Homes provided a slightly different take on the concept in their two-storey, 2,201 square-foot show home at 268 Yellow Moon Cr. in Sage Creek, says the homes sales representative, Rheanne Unryn of Royal LePage Prime Real Estate.
“They wanted this home to be modern and sleek yet be a relaxing breathing space that a family could enjoy in every way,” she says. “It’s a luxurious home, yet it’s a functional, welcoming place to come home to at the end of the day.”
The key to the home’s rich, inviting feel is the way Artista’s design team subtly integrated luxurious touches with an ultra-functional floor plan.
Case in point is its foyer, which, with its excellent depth and width, nine-foot ceiling and grey porcelain tile floor, it gets the home off to an elegant yet functional start.
“People have liked how spacious it is, plus the fact that there’s an office to the left and a beautiful powder room to the right,” Unryn says. “There’s even a nook on the right-hand wall for a bench that allows you to take your shoes off without getting in the way of everyone.”
That feeling of freedom is then amplified the instant you set foot in the main living area.
A great room with an 18-foot ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows on the left-hand side provides a sense of space, light (and understated elegance), while a generous dining/kitchen area provides the function that families require on a day-in, day-out basis.
“It’s just so bright in here,” she says. “While much of the light comes from the great room, it also comes in from an extra-wide patio door behind the dining area and large window over the double sink on the kitchen’s rear wall.”
She adds that the dining room and kitchen offer a seamless blend of function and style.
“Everyone has loved the dining room because its size allows for the dining table to be oriented either way,” Unryn says. “Normally, it would be point toward the patio door for normal dinners, but there’s plenty of space to orient it the other way to extend the table to host larger gatherings.”
Then there’s the adjacent island kitchen. An elegant yet efficient space, it’s everything that an active family could ask for.
“Families love that the sink is under the window, it opens prep space up on the island, which is something they asked for. They also love the walk-through pantry, with its custom shelving and access to a large, tiled mudroom that has direct access to the 24’ by 24’ double attached garage.”
As for the finishes in the kitchen itself, they’re a testament to stylish minimalism.
Light grey cabinets, off-white quartz countertops contrast magnificently with a charcoal grey island and Euro-style cabinet over the slide-in range, while a white penny tile backsplash adds texture and interest.
Unryn says the great room possesses the same subtle flair as the kitchen.
“A simple entertainment unit with electric ribbon fireplace, grey surround and taupe feature wall looks great, while the black-trimmed staircase looks incredible. Because this is a corner lot, a large window was put on the wall behind the stairs. The light that comes in at the end of the day is amazing.”
So too is the home’s upper level, which starts off with a large loft that was designed to be a space for the kids to play and watch TV in.
From there, a pair of wings branch off to the right and left.
The wing to the right holds a gorgeous four-piece bath (it’s as nice as most ensuites) and two oversized bedrooms with huge windows.
Meanwhile, the wing to the left contains a spacious, well-appointed laundry room and the primary bedroom.
“Its highlight is its ensuite with its gorgeous walk-in shower with tile surround, black fixtures, and inset storage nooks on the wall that people just love. The vanity has a beautiful custom walnut wrap, quartz countertop and dual sinks; the walk-in closet offers tons of built-in storage.”
Luxurious yet logically designed, the home offers families unparalleled style and function, concludes Unryn.
“Almost every family that went through the home said they could see themselves living here. That tells you just how thoughtfully-designed this home is.”
