The title and plot description of The Wet Dream Catcher are far more intriguing than anything you will hear during the hour of surreal silliness performed by Vancouver spoken-word artist RC Weslowski.

The idea is that a bearded guy named Miss Nancy is gathering all the dirty thoughts of the audience and cleansing them through a wet dream catcher. “It deals with what the world has not been dealing with,” says Nancy. At a performance at the Ottawa Fringe Festival, the audience heard voiced numerous rude thoughts, including one onlooker’s unspoken musing, “It looks like the Winnipeg Jets are returning, just like my herpes.”

The Wet Dream Catcher is a trip down the rabbit hole but it doesn’t go anywhere interesting, despite the presence of Elton John working security for the ghost of Joni Mitchell, a Whitney Houston stick face and a talking Tyrannosaurus rex. The audience is promised an orgasm at the end of the show but if Nancy turned on her wet dream catcher, she would discover everyone was faking it.

With The Wet Dream Catcher, RC Weslowski is able to capture the dirty thoughts of the audience and thought wash them so they become clean of shame and feel good about themselves.

The show has talking dinosaurs, art scandal, super models, Bible stories, the Queen of England’s vagina, dirty thoughts, angels with wolf heads and everyone who attends gets to have an orgasm.
