The Last Goddamned Performance Piece

Sky and Rain are the last two actors standing when the rest of their 11-member performance art troupe bail out just prior to their performance. The pair gamely try to live up to the adage “the show must go on” but the loss of the other players forces them to come to terms with their own failing relationship in front of the audience.

Filled with the angst of youthful love gone awry, writer Jayson McDonald’s Last G.D. alternates between the play and the drama of the two characters’ lives. The performances (the actors are not identified) are solid and the premise is a unique and funny way to look at breakups — but there isn’t anything new about lost love to be learned from this Ottawa production.
