Planning on voting today?
Elections Canada says voters must prove their identity and address at the polling station.
To cast a ballot, you must do one of the following three things:
– Show original government-issued identification containing your photo, name and address. This would include a driver’s licence.
– Show two original pieces of ID authorized by the Chief Electoral Officer. Both must have your name and one your address. Examples: health card or hydro bill.
– Swear an oath and be vouched for by an elector who is on the voters list in your polling division, and who has acceptable ID. That person must also swear an oath.
Be sure to take your voter information card with you to the polling station. This card shows that you are registered.
If you don’t have such a card and you didn’t register, you can still register at the polling station by proving your identity and address.
