Wage Rate: As per Collective Agreement

Description of Duties
- Research and write editorials and op-ed
- Edit editorials
- Lead adjunct editorial board
- Supervise production of pages
- Proofread Op-Ed page
- Pursue initiatives to grow digital audience
- Maintain close contact with the community
- Other general duties, as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary journalism accreditation or equivalent daily newspaper experience
- Considerable experience in daily newspaper editorial operations
- In-depth working knowledge of InDesign
- High level of computer literacy and web savvy
- Familiar with website content management systems
- Proficient with social media platforms
- Excellent editing and writing skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to both follow and give directions as well as take independent initiative
- Able to work varying shift times and under deadline pressure
- Must project a professional public image on behalf of the newspaper
- Must understand the importance of customer service
