The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract worth US$750,000 with 23-year-old defenceman Leon Gawanke.
Gawanke played 65 games for the Manitoba Moose in 2021-22 and registered 36 points, including 10 goals, and 19 penalty
minutes. His 26 assists led the Moose.
In five AHL playoff games, he recorded four points, including one goal, and four penalties.
Gawanke, Winnipeg’s fifth-round pick (136th overall) in the 2017 NHL Draft, hails from Berlin. He has played for Germany multiple times at the international level, including the last two world championships.
