Mike Sawatzky

Mike has been working on the Free Press sports desk since 2003.

In 2012, he was appointed night sports editor — editing copy, writing headlines, guiding reporters and helping produce the following day’s print edition.

He moved from the editing side to the reporting side in 2016.

The change is a switch back to reporting for Mike, who originally got into the journalism biz in 1985 in Brandon; he was the Sun‘s Wheat Kings beat reporter from 1988-1999.
