It’s been five decades since Foster Hewitt uttered the immortal words: ‘Henderson made a wild stab for it and fell. Here’s another shot. Right in front, they score! Henderson has scored for Canada!’

With that winning goal, Canada clinched the eight-game Summit Series over the Soviet Union.

The historic showdown for hockey supremacy began on Sept. 2, 1972 in Montreal, before games in Toronto (Sept. 4), Winnipeg (Sept. 6) and Vancouver (Sept. 8). It concluded with four games in Moscow, with Henderson scoring in the final 34 seconds in the final game.
