Janice Matthewman trained for years to do something she never thought possible — run a full marathon.

The Free Press got an inside look at her journey at the Manitoba Marathon on Sunday as she ran with a group of women jokingly called the “Turbo Turtles.”

Running has become more than just a way of keeping fit for Matthewman, as the camaraderie and friendships last far beyond the track.

“It’s not just running with the muscles in my legs, it’s my soul, it’s my identity, it’s who I am,” says Matthewman.
