A Winnipeg woman accused of killing her neighbour has been released on bail for the second time.

Brenda Lee Schuff was granted bail Friday afternoon — a year after she was initially released.

Schuff, who is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her Wolseley-area neighbour, 54-year-old Judy Kenny, will have to follow the same court conditions imposed when she was released on bail in August 2017, including a 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. curfew.

She’ll be back in the Elizabeth Fry Society’s bail program and is required to follow that organization’s rules going forward.

She ended up back in custody after being accused of breaking the rules, provincial court records show.

She was charged March 9 with breaching her recognizance by failing to follow law rules and regulations.

Court of Queen’s Bench Justice James Edmond granted her release on bail Friday under the same conditions he’d imposed before, including Schuff abstain from drugs and alcohol and attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Crown prosecutors ultimately consented to her release following Friday’s hearing.

A court-ordered publication ban means details of that hearing can’t be published.

Schuff was to be released on her own recognizance of $25,000, and has two people agreeing to be her sureties for $25,000 each.

She was ordered to stand trial for the murder charge after a preliminary inquiry in the spring.

She is still awaiting trial and is presumed innocent.

Schuff was arrested within minutes of police discovering Kenny’s body around 3 a.m. on April 10, 2017.

Schuff, then 44, lived down the street from Kenny’s home on the 400 block of Camden Place.

At the time, police said only “an edged weapon” had been used against Kenny.
