ST. NORBERT – SEINE RIVER
Incumbent Markus Chambers was the only candidate nominated in the St. Norbert – Seine River ward.
Chambers has represented the St. Norbert – Seine River ward for one term.
Since being elected, he has served on several standing policy committees and currently sits on the standing policy committee on infrastructure renewal and public works, and the standing policy committee on parks, community services and Protection.
Chambers is the current chair of the Winnipeg Police board, vice-chair of the human rights committee of council and served as Winnipeg’s deputy mayor from 2018 to 2020.
“A lot of my direct experience is based on 30 years of working for the provincial government at different levels, whether it was service delivery, policy development or working directly with the deputy minister and minister,” Chambers said.
If re-elected, Chambers said his priorities will include establishing an “open door” policy between residents and City Hall and continuing with his work on roads and infrastructure, public transportation, affordable housing, safety, climate change and economic development.
“There are projects on the go that I want to see through to fruition because I recognize the value they will place in the community,” Chambers said.
