Haldimand-Norfolk
Leslyn Lewis — who placed third in the federal Conservative leadership race last year after a high-profile campaign — is running in this riding after Diane Finley, a veteran Tory, announced she’s out.
Population: 109,652 (Elections Canada)
Main challengers: Conservative party candidate Leslyn Lewis, a lawyer andthe first Black female candidate to run for the party leadership; Liberal candidate Karen Matthews, a winery general manager; NDP candidate Meghan Piironen, a student at the University of Ottawa.
Election history:This riding is currently vacant, with Finley announcing her resignation and retirement on May 11. The longtime Tory won the seat six times.
Fun Fact: The riding was recreated from Haldimand-Norfolk-Brant and Erie-Lincoln for the 2004 election.
