Cindy Gilroy has won the Daniel McIntyre seat for a third term, earning 52 per cent of voters’ support.

Challengers Sal Infantino and Omar Kinnarath split the remaining votes in the ward, each earning 24 per cent.

First elected in 2014, Gilroy became the first chairwoman of the property, development, heritage and downtown development committee. She has also sat on the executive policy committee, as part of Mayor Brian Bowman’s inner circle.

Incumbent councillor Cindy Gilroy said she will prioritize the environment and poverty, crime and homelessness reduction.

Gilroy has said she will prioritize poverty reduction, climate change targets, affordable housing, road repair and Transit improvements.

Her win in 2022 showed a slight drop in support since 2018, when she also won over two contenders; in 2018 she won with 57 per cent of the vote.

Infantino, a life-long resident of the ward, owns X-Cues Cafe and Lounge on Sargent Avenue. His platform featured quality-of-life improvements.

Kinnarath, founder of the city’s Mutual Aid Society, promised to work on term limits for city council, improving social resources and restricting suburban road construction.
