Kelsey Wog made her Olympic debut Sunday but it did not go as planned.
The 22-year-old Winnipegger clocked a time of 1:07.73 for 23rd spot in the women’s 100-metre breaststroke preliminaries but missed qualifying for the semifinals.
Only the top 16 swimmers advanced.
Wog’s next chance to impress comes in her signature event — the 200-metre breaststroke. Heats and semifinals are scheduled for Wednesday with the final on tap for Thursday.
In addition, Wog is slated to swim the breaststroke leg for the Canadian team in the women’s 4×100-metre medley relay. Heats are set for Friday with the final going on Saturday.
