Dauphin doc who pushed conspiracy theories no longer practising

A Dauphin physician who posted conspiracy theories about the pandemic on his Facebook page, and claimed masks don’t reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus, is no longer practising medicine in Manitoba.

Blair Hrabarchuk, an internal medicine physician who worked in the Prairie Mountain Health region, is no longer listed on the website of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba.

“If a physician’s name does not appear on our profile, the physician is not currently practising medicine in Manitoba,” wrote college registrar Dr. Anna Ziomek, in an email.

She would not say why Hrabarchuk is no longer practising in Manitoba.

Hrabarchuk, who worked at the Dauphin Medical Clinic, claimed on his Facebook page in August that the pandemic is not about a virus but an attempt to create “a totalitarian society.”

He posted links to YouTube videos that promoted conspiracy theories about the pandemic (one of which was later labelled “false information” by Facebook). Hrabarchuk, who identified himself as a doctor on social media, took down his Facebook page in September after the Free Press did a story on it.

A staff member at the Dauphin clinic said Hrabarchuk is on a leave of absence.
