Winnipeg’s music community is coming together is support of five boys who lost their parents in a Saskatchewan car crash last weekend.
A fundraiser will be held next Thursday, Dec. 2, at Level 2 Nite Club at 575 Portage Avenue to help cover travel and lodging costs in Saskatchewan, where four of the Dubois boys are still in hospital.
Some of the acts scheduled to perform include Filthy Animals, Blackout Records, Diverse, Big Ox and Quick Track Killas.
Each performer will play two songs. The proceeds from their promotional gear will also go to the Dubois family.
Brenda and Marcel Dubois, both 38, were killed on Sunday when a car hit their minivan while trying to pass another vehicle on an undivided highway near Saltcoats, Sask. The 17-year-old girl driving the other vehicle was also killed.
Four of the couple’s sons — Michael, 16, Jarret, 14, Matthew, 13, and Dustin, 9 — are recovering in hospital. Nineteen-year-old Jordan, who did not travel with the family to the taekwondo competition, has said he is determined to raise his four younger brothers, who of whom could face serious disabilities as a result of the crash.
