Early Wednesday morning, word came straight from the horses mouth — entertainment company Cavalia is jumping back in the saddle with True North Sports and Entertainment for a second round of Odysseo, the equestrian-meets-acrobatic-arts spectacle that first took over the city in the fall of 2015.

The debut Winnipeg run of Odysseo was record-breaking for the company; more than 100,000 tickets were sold over the six-week run, which had been extended four times due to high demand.

“In my highest expectations, I hoped that we would get these numbers,” Kevin Donnelly, senior vice-president of venues and entertainment for True North, told the Free Press at the end of Odysseo’s 2015 run.

Because of that success, Cavalia will be bringing back the iconic White Big Top tent at the corner of Sterling Lyon Parkway and Kenaston Boulevard for performances starting Saturday, May 12, 2018, through Sunday, May 27.

The show itself features 65 horses and 50 riders, acrobats, dancers and musicians. Odysseo is a “celebration of horse and man” created by Normand Latourelle, co-founder of Cirque du Soleil, and, in addition to the horse and human talent, also features some of the most technologically advanced staging and sets in the world, including a life-sized merry-go-round that descends from the air, the world’s largest movie screen and a real lake made of 40,000 gallons of recycled water.

Presale tickets are on sale today starting at 7 a.m. at Cavalia.com or 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster, and range in price from $47-$125.50, plus fees. VIP packages are also available.
