Matt Allard, the St. Boniface ward’s incumbent, will be returning to city hall, earning 68 per cent of votes.
Nicholas Douklias, owner of Helios Restaurant, came in a distant second with 26 per cent support in the east Winnipeg ward.
First elected in 2014, Allard formerly worked as an executive assistant to Liberal MP Dan Vandal, who held the ward’s seat before running federally.
Allard is a proponent of sustainability, active transportation, transit and oversite at city hall. He has been critical of the city’s planning and spending habits, traffic infrastructure and snow-clearing efforts. His priorities include housing and safety.
