Manitoba’s police watchdog is seeking the public’s help to identify a bystander at the scene of a fatal hit-and-run last month in downtown Winnipeg.
Cody Severight, 23, was struck and killed while crossing Main Street at Sutherland Avenue on Oct. 10, just after 8 p.m.
The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba said Thursday in a news release it is attempting to identify an individual who was crossing Main Street at the intersection, from east to west, and was with Severight before and at the time of the collision.

The IIU is asking anyone who may know the individual, or who has information that may assist in the investigation, to contact the agency at 1-844-667-6060.
In the hours following the collision, Winnipeg Police Service Const. Justin Holz, 34, was charged with impaired driving causing death and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. Holz is to appear in court Nov. 22.
The IIU investigates all serious incidents involving police officers in Manitoba, whether occurring on- or off-duty.
