Whether you’re looking for a quick slice as a snack or need to bring home dinner for the entire family, Main Street Slice has you covered.
Recently opened at 3513 Main St., Main Street Slice offers a variety of interesting pizza combinations, available by either the slice or whole pie, co-owner Jesse Arcon said.
Plenty of thought has gone into every ingredient, beginning with the crust, which comes in a few different types, including New York Style, which is a 16-inch, thin but crispy version.
“We double-fire it so the slices are all nice and crispy, nice and fresh too,” Arcon said.
Main Street Slice also offers a gluten-friendly crust. If you prefer a softer type you can opt for the Grandma Square, a 14-inch option that is more like focaccia.
“It’s a crispy crust on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside,” Arcon explained.
What goes on top of those crusts is just as good, Arcon added. The pork and chicken are ethically raised by Zinn Farms, which feeds its animals milled feed, grass, hay and organic vegetables. Most other ingredients are also produced close to home.
“We use high-quality ingredients,” Arcon said. “We source locally and we like to make sure everything’s fresh.”
There’s a speciality pizza for every taste, he offered. Carnivores can opt for the deluxe, which includes bacon, sausage, pepperoni, red onions, green peppers and roasted mushrooms, or the Pepperoni Prince, which also has oregano, parmesan and mozzarella. If you have more of an international palate there’s the sleek Greek, which includes chicken, spinach pesto, red onions, roasted garlic, sun-dried tomato, feta and Kalamata olives. The chef’s favourite is the Buffalo Bird, which features chicken, mozzarella, blue cheese, spicy Buffalo tomato sauce, red onions and parsley.
If you want something to go with your pizza, you can add garlic rolls, dips, caesar salad, and chicken wings by the pound. Wing flavours include hot, Buffalo, honey garlic, sweet chili heat, salt and pepper, parmesan garlic, ranch, dill pickle and Swahili spice, which Arcon said has a curry-like taste.
While ordering your meal be sure to try the house-made iced tea, which is a secret family recipe, though Arcon agreed to share a few details.
“It’s a classic recipe from the owner, it’s really good,” Arcon said. “It’s a cold-brew ice tea. We brew the tea overnight so it pulls out the flavour nicely.”
After four years in the industry Arcon took the step to ownership with the right opportunity.
“It’s a type of product I can stand behind,” he concluded.
